Season Passes

February 19, 2015 - White Mountain Region, NH – Bretton Woods, Cranmore Mountain Resort, Cannon Mountain and Waterville Valley Resort will again offer the popular White Mountain Superpass which is set to go on sale at all four resorts on Friday, February 20, 2015. The pass will be valid any day of the 2015-2016 winter season at all four mountains. There are no blackout date restrictions and passes come with added bonuses.

”The Superpass has been growing in popularity since its launch two years ago, so offering it again this season was an easy decision,” said Chris Sununu, CEO of Waterville Valley Resort. “We also decided not to increase the price from previous years, which should make the pass even more attractive.”

The White Mountain Superpass gives skiers and riders access to a combined total of 284 trails and glades, 41 lifts, 1148 acres and 6,900 vertical feet; and it includes a special “Bring-A-Friend Bonus.” The bonus enables the passholder to get a friend $15 off the purchase of a one-day full-priced adult lift ticket. The offer can be used once per day for the purchase of one ticket. Passholders may also receive a 10 percent discount from select retail outlets at each ski area, in addition to regular passholder benefits at all 4 mountains.

”We’re also excited to announce that the 4NH College pass will now be known as the College Superpass,” said John DeVivo, Cannon Mountain’s general manager. “The name has changed but the amazing value for college students has not. It’s certainly one of the best college deals in the East.”

The College Superpass offers the same ski areas and benefits as the White Mountain Superpass, but comes with price tag built to accommodate college students. The College Superpass will go on sale for just $299.

All four ski areas are located in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire and all offer unique experiences. “We’re all an easy drive from Boston and passholders really get a great sample of the best skiing and riding in the region,” said Cranmore’s general manager, Ben Wilcox.

”All four Superpass ski areas offer a wide variety of lodging options from hotels, motels, and B&B’s, to grand accommodations like the Omni Mountain Washington Hotel. We all have excellent choices to fit our guests’ style and budget,” remarked Chris Ellms, director of ski operations for Bretton Woods.

Skiers and riders are encouraged to get the pass before June 1, 2015 when prices will increase. The special early-purchase price for the White Mountain Superpass will be $949 for adults (ages 18+), $549 for teens (ages 13-17), and $449 for juniors (ages 6-12). The four-area White Mountain Superpass & College Superpass go on sale on February 20, 2015 and can be purchased online at www.WhiteMountainSuperpass.com.

June 4, 2018 - To the Sunapee Community,

As many of you have recently learned, our family has made the decision to sell the operating lease of Mount Sunapee Resort to Vail Resorts, along with Okemo Mountain and Crested Butte Mountain Resort. While we realize this announcement is unexpected for most of you, we want you all to know this was a very hard decision. We started in the resort business in 1972 and then moved into the ski resort business at Okemo in 1982. The ski industry has created a foundation for our entire lives, as well as our children’s lives.

Since we arrived at Mount Sunapee 20 years ago, we have developed many friendships with people at work and within this community. There are so many stories and too many memories to count. Because we have always been passionate about what we do, we have poured our hearts into making the best skiing and riding experiences possible in the three places we have called home for so long, Okemo, the Lake Sunapee Region and Crested Butte. We are so proud of the accolades we have achieved with our team at Mount Sunapee. With the best snow in the east, this little mountain sure has become mighty.

We have seen an amazing amount of change in the ski industry over the years. Much of the evolution has been good: improved technologies around ski gear; the onset of snowboarding; grooming equipment; energy efficient snowmaking; and probably the most heartening is how many more people ski and ride or simply come to the mountains now versus three decades ago.

Our business model has always been somewhat unique in this industry; operating large, successful ski resorts that are family owned. It is something we have always enjoyed, been proud of, and worked hard to preserve. Another reason this decision has been incredibly difficult for our family.

When approached by Vail Resorts all of these thoughts, memories and realities stirred through our heads. What does this mean for us? For our teams? What does this mean for our communities? What does this mean for the mountains that we have poured decades of energy into? We were not naïve in understanding this would mean changes in the future. We spent a lot of time contemplating all of this, and ultimately decided that moving forward with the sale was in the best interest of each of our stakeholders. Although we cannot perfectly predict the future, we ultimately felt this would be a positive move. We realize the idea of a large company like Vail Resorts overseeing operations at each of our unique resorts may feel unsettling. However, the reality is they are mountain operators and run some of the best and most successful resorts in the industry. Putting Mount Sunapee in their hands will ensure a good future for the ski area and will therefore help support a good future for the entire Lake Sunapee Region. They are great operators and good people, and they will invest in the mountain and community.

Please know we have entered into this transaction with the best intentions for the ski area, our fellow employees, and the community. If we did not think this was going to bring more opportunity for the resort in the years to come, we would not have pursued this sale. Our goal has never been to make Mount Sunapee the biggest, but to make it the best and we feel Vail Resorts is poised to continue Sunapee’s excellence. We hope you will be open to their approach and give them the opportunity to prove their good intentions.

It has been the greatest pleasure of our lives operating this awesome ski area for the last 20 years for the State of New Hampshire. Thank you for sharing it with us.

With mountains of gratitude,

Tim, Diane, Ethan & Erica Mueller

Learn To Ski & Ride Passport Program

Waterville Valley, NH, February 6, 2017 – On Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. Waterville Valley Resort will celebrate the culmination of the Resort’s major Green Peak Expansion with the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting of the Green Peak Triple Chair Lift. The new Green Peak is the Resort’s biggest expansion in over 30 years and the only ski resort expansion on the East Coast this year. When completed, it will add 10 new trails (45 new acres) for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

“We are very excited to open Green Peak during Waterville Valley Resort’s 50th Anniversary Season,” said President and General Manager Tim Smith. “The Green Peak Expansion is a tremendous accomplishment for everybody who was involved in the project: the U.S. Forest Service, the local enthusiasts, the management team, and all of the Waterville Valley Resort family. Getting this project achieved is a huge step forward for Waterville Valley Resort. The expansion will provide an exciting new peak experience for the guests.”

The Green Peak Expansion project was first announced in September of 2013, with construction getting the green light this past summer. Waterville Valley Resort partnered with all local New Hampshire contractors for this project: M.E. Johnston Construction of Thornton, NH and Wade Reed Logging of Rumney provided the site work, and SkyTrans Manufacturing of Contoocook, NH installed the Green Peak Triple chair lift. Waterville Valley Resort started the Green Peak Trail Name Contest in December and will continue accepting name suggestions and the stories behind them until February 10th, 2017.
